Cyprus, hills

10 March 2004 - 6:21pm -- Joseph

We're in Cyprus for a week with Hev's parents, seeing the sights. It's not that warm, seeing as it's only March (though of course it's warmer than in England...)
We've rented a jeep, so we've managed to see quite alot of the island. They drive on the left, which is a relief, but the jeep is automatic, which I've never driven before. It's dead easy, infact, as far as I'm concerned, it's not proper driving, it's just cheating...

We drove up into the mountains yesterday, the highest of which is Mount Olympus. Those Greek Gods must have been crazy, open-toed sandals? There's snow up there!!!

We also climbed some of the way up the Caledonian falls, which was fun, though not quite the 'well maintained path' the guidebok claimed. I stupidly wore my brand spanking new white trainers, and managed to shred them in some brambles, grrrr....

All in all it's been good, we've eaten out alot, and had some nice food, seen some nice scenery. we've also been to Nicosia, the Capital, and seen the border and checkpoint into the Turkish north more about which in another entry, perhaps...
