leap-frogged by the French

14 June 2004 - 1:02pm -- Joseph

Gutted.

Not only was that the cruelest reversal I've ever witnessed, but also the latest, the strangest, and also just plain jammy...

Yes, the French played well, and had us under the kosh at times, but they didn't create a great deal, despite camping just outside our area for quarter of an hour. It's a shame Beckham missed the penalty (are there any Englishmen who can score penalties..?) but we played well enough to beat any team that didn't have Zidane in it. Rooney in particular was awesome...

Fortunately, Croatia and Switzerland both looked poor, and since we now need to win both games, there's no room to be over-confident. Here's hoping Rooney rips through both teams' defences, he should do on the evidence of last night....

Come on boys.....
