A Very Cheesy Birthday

It was hev's birthday last week (happy birthday babe!), and Heather carried out her promise (threat?) to cook a five-course cheese meal for us. The menu was as follows:

  1. pre-dinner nibbles (to accompany present opening): baked Camembert with baguette slices for dipping
  2. starter: feta heese, parma ham and asparagus with rocket sprinkled with parmesan
  3. Main course: baked salmon with a Gruyere and almond crust
  4. dessert: lemon cheesecake (of course)
  5. Cheese board: Applewood smoked cheddar, Gruyere and some soft cheese that I chickened out of tasting, not sure what it was - brie?

All of which was accompanied by a nice bottle of white, and a glass of port with the cheesboard (naturally).

It was all very nice, and not nearly as heart-stoppingly fat-ridden as you might expect. There are photos on Hev's Picassa account...
