Macromedia boycotts 'Axis of Evil'

30 April 2004 - 3:02pm -- Joseph

I've just been trying to download some additional security features for Macromedia Dreamweaver, and come across this rather amusing page on the Macromedia site.

It basically says that if you're from Afghanistan, Cuba, Iran, Iraq, North Korea, Sudan, or Syria, you're not allowed to download software from them 'cos it contravenes U.S. export laws. So in other words, 'You can't have none of our software, you're in the axis of eee-viiiil...

If we're talking axes of evil, I'd be thinking more, Microsoft, Macromedia, Realmedia, or Nestle and Starbucks...

Now that's eeeeeeeeeevil, boys....

Such a rigorous security system too, 'if you're in the above mentioned countries, don't follow this link, promise...?'.

This filled me with confidence, seeing as it was a security plugin I was going to download. I decided not to bother...

I believe that your University has students from Iran, and they pay you money, hence you shouldn't really be using software from any US vendors, all of whom have the same licence clause.
