Marlborough Downs Mountain Boarding

29 August 2004 - 8:32pm -- Joseph

I went mountain boarding on the Marlborough downs with friends yesterday, in aid of a friend's birthday (Happy birthday Lewis!).
Mountain boarding is basically like nicotine patches for Snowboard freaks. It's a snowboard-like board (but smaller) with with Skateboard like undercarriage, except with much bigger, air-filled wheels to enable them to run on rough terrain. it's a bit like Skateboarding, but more like snowboarding.

leap-frogged by the French

14 June 2004 - 1:02pm -- Joseph

Gutted.

Not only was that the cruelest reversal I've ever witnessed, but also the latest, the strangest, and also just plain jammy...

Yes, the French played well, and had us under the kosh at times, but they didn't create a great deal, despite camping just outside our area for quarter of an hour. It's a shame Beckham missed the penalty (are there any Englishmen who can score penalties..?) but we played well enough to beat any team that didn't have Zidane in it. Rooney in particular was awesome...

The Pixies - Brixton Academy - Friday June 4th, 2004

7 June 2004 - 12:46pm -- Joseph

Awesome.

Just quite simply awesome.

I mean, if they'd have kept the lights low and got any old screaming fat bloke up there to do a half-decent Black Francis/Frank Black/Whatisface impression (Tarry?) I'd have been happy-ish. at least I'd have seen the Pixies live, right?

Normally, you don't expect much from reunion gigs, they're just a big cash-in, right? (and make no mistke, this was a big cash-in, they've made no secret of that.)

Groningen

1 June 2004 - 4:48pm -- Joseph

I went to Groningen in Holland for a International Student Football tournament this weekend - three days playing football, sitting around in the sun and drinking beer - great fun.
This was my first football tournament, and it fully lived up to my expectations (though sleeping in a large gym for four hours a night ensured that the quality of football wasn't exactly sparkling). I actually got to play though, which was good - and I didn't screw up!
