Champion's League glory beckons!! ...Maybe...

14 April 2005 - 4:12pm -- Joseph

Liverpool's draw with Juventus last night. The match was adjudged by all impartial observers to be 'a right snooze-fest' - I didn't see it, but I'll take Guardian unlimited's word for it (I was going to link to the typically sarcastic minute-by-minute commentary, but they seem to have taken it down and replaced it with a proper match report. Spoil sports).

Whatever happened to the Toon army?

5 April 2005 - 1:22pm -- Joseph

A few short years ago, Newcastle United were everyone's favourite other team. I'm not even talkin about under 'king Kev' ten years ago, but just a few years ago under Bobby Robson. They played attractive football, were managed by everyone's favourite ageing manager, and looked as if they could challenge the Man-U Arsenal monopoly on the Premiership (without ever actually doing so admittedly.)

Newcastle were stylish, loveable and most importantly, they were nearly-men. We like that - "Ooh, almost, not quite, nice try, well done".

Shamless promotion

17 March 2005 - 12:44pm -- Joseph

I was very pleased to see that Shameless, the Channel 4 program (comedy? drama? comedy-drama?) won three awards at the Royal Television Society awards this week.

Shameless is top telly, the best thing on tv for the last couple of years, so I'm glad it's getting the rcognition.

Thank you Paul Abbott, you're a geeeeeenius...

Mari

11 March 2005 - 1:16pm -- Joseph

A few weeks ago, I had some very sad news. A friend of mine, Mari Hyndman, died of a Heart attack. She was 25. It's hard to find any words to say about such an event, but on the other hand, Mari's death is very much on my mind at the moment, so I feel I should write something.
Mari had heart troubles, which all her friends (and there are many) knew about. This perhaps should have prepared us for the fact that Mari might be taken from us too soon. It hasn't. Sometimes forewarned is not forearmed.

Hey, Mr. Bus Driver...

7 March 2005 - 5:16pm -- Joseph

I just filled in an online survey about cycling in Oxford and Cambridge. Obviously it was the vague chance of winning a record token that prompted me, but the chance to rant about the stupid fat ignorant baffoon of a bus driver who tried to squish me into the pavement this morning was also a plus.

Then I thought, why stop there? Why not rant about it on the only public forum available to me?

ipod shuffles and off duty

25 February 2005 - 8:46pm -- Joseph

There has been great excitment in the Talbot household this week as Joe and I each received our ipod shuffles.
If you are an avid reader of Joe's blogs you would know that Joe is a bit of a ipod fan and was well excited when they introduced the ipod shuffle so it is easier for him to go jogging.
I just like them cos they are tiny!!
So we each have one and how good they are, so good I have even been out for a jog too!

So this is what I am up to over the next few weeks:
